What We Offer

Coastal Vegetation Management now offers a select range of specialised vegetation and fire-mitigation equipment for dry hire across Western Australia.

This new service has been developed to support councils, established contractors, and industry operators who require high-performance machinery for short-term or project-specific works.

Unlike general hire companies, our focus is on niche, purpose-built machinery that is not readily accessible on the commercial hire market. Every unit is selected for its relevance to vegetation management, steep-slope safety, fire mitigation, or precision clearing — the exact environments we have worked in for more than a decade.

Our hire model is designed for experienced organisations with trained operators, providing a cost-effective alternative to full contracting services when clients have the workforce capacity but need access to the right tools. This supports local councils working within annual budgets, contractors managing fluctuating workloads, and project teams operating in remote environments where specialised equipment is required to keep essential works moving.

Backed by the expertise of our operational team, every hire package comes with guidance, best-practice recommendations, and a clear understanding of the machine’s capabilities. For clients, this means safe, efficient access to equipment that is proven, maintained, and ready for immediate deployment.

This division represents a new way for us to support the industries we work with — offering solutions that maintain critical vegetation and fire-mitigation standards, even when budgets, timeframes, or internal resources vary.

Green Climber

Remote Control Slope Mower

The Green Climber is a remote-controlled, tracked slope mower designed for steep, unstable, or hazardous terrain where traditional machinery cannot operate safely. Its low ground pressure, high stability, and fully remote operation make it ideal for councils, shires, and contractors needing to manage high-risk vegetation areas without exposing staff to unsafe slopes. This unit is one of the few machines of its type available for dry hire in WA.

Best Use Cases

Perfect for steep embankments, drainage lines, road verges, dam walls, firebreak edges, batter slopes, and inaccessible terrain where hand crews or traditional mowers are unsafe or inefficient.

Capabilities

The Green Climber can operate on gradients up to approximately 60°, maintaining traction and stability on uneven ground. Its tracked platform keeps weight distributed evenly, reducing soil disturbance and allowing operation across soft, rocky, or uneven terrain. The remote-control system keeps the operator at a safe distance, eliminating exposure to rollovers, slips, or machinery hazards — a critical advantage for WHS-focused organisations.

Hire Inclusions

  • Pre-hire inspection and checklist

  • Plant trailer with ramps

  • Phone support during hire

Forst Chipper

Tracked Wood Chipper - XR8D

The Forst tracked wood chipper is a compact yet powerful machine designed for rapid processing of tree limbs, prunings, and vegetation on uneven or difficult ground. Its tracked system allows access into slopes, paddocks, reserves, or bushland where tow-behind chippers cannot safely operate.

Best Use Cases

Orchard clean-ups, storm damage, roadside clearing, park maintenance, forestry undergrowth programs, and mulching of tree material in locations without stable vehicle access.

Capabilities

The machine handles timber up to approximately 8” diameter depending on model, with aggressive feed rollers and a robust engine system for continuous operation. The tracked design provides the mobility needed to reach remote or soft-ground areas without bogging or needing towing vehicles on sensitive terrain.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our specialised dry hire equipment is available exclusively to professional organisations. This includes local governments, councils and shires, established contractors, mining and resource sector teams, and renewable energy operators. We do not hire to individuals, residential users, or uninsured entities, as our fleet is designed for commercial, high-risk and high-value applications.

  • Our dry hire fleet is supplied on a dry hire basis only. In some cases, we may recommend contracted services through Coastal Vegetation Management where a full-service solution is more appropriate. This will be discussed during the enquiry process to ensure the best outcome for the project.

  • To assess suitability, we require basic project details, the intended scope of works, operator experience, and confirmation of insurance coverage. For first-time hirers, we may also request references. This process ensures the right equipment is matched to the right project and operator.

  • Yes. All hired equipment must be operated by experienced and competent personnel who are familiar with similar machinery. For certain high-powered or specialised units, such as forestry mulchers, evidence of prior experience may be required before approval. This helps protect both the operator and the equipment.

  • All hirers must hold current Public Liability Insurance and Plant & Equipment Insurance that covers hired-in machinery. Due to the value and nature of the equipment, hire cannot proceed without appropriate insurance documentation.

  • Yes. All equipment is hired on a minimum one-week basis. This ensures projects are properly planned, equipment is allocated to genuine commercial workloads, and hire arrangements remain practical and cost-effective for both parties. Shorter hire periods may be considered only for existing clients.

  • Equipment inspections may be arranged for approved enquiries where appropriate. As our machinery is actively deployed and maintained across multiple sites, inspections are managed on a case-by-case basis following an initial suitability review.

  • Our dry hire fleet consists of specialised, high-value machinery that is not typically available through general hire suppliers. These requirements allow us to maintain safety, compliance and reliability, prevent misuse or damage, and ensure equipment remains available for essential vegetation management and fire mitigation works across Western Australia.
