What we do

  • Expert Vegetation Management for Land Rehabilitation and Fire Mitigation

Forestry mulching effectively removes invasive tree species, shrubs, undergrowth, and fallen trees, providing an environmentally sustainable solution for land clearing. This method eliminates the need for burning or manual disposal, turning cleared vegetation into beneficial mulch that remains in place, helping to reduce soil erosion and protect topsoil from wind.

We tailor our approach to each project by selecting the right equipment for the terrain, whether it’s rugged bushland or steep slopes. Our experienced team is skilled in handling diverse environments, ensuring efficient and safe operations while maintaining a focus on environmental impact and land productivity.

Whether clearing vegetation for fire mitigation, land rehabilitation, or creating fire breaks, we deliver high-quality results with minimal disruption. Our approach ensures that the job is done to the highest standards, with precision, professionalism, and attention to detail.

  • Slashing – Efficient Vegetation Management for Land Development and Commercial Sites

Slashing is the mechanical process of clearing grass, shrubs, and undergrowth across a variety of commercial and industrial sites. It’s commonly used for fire prevention, land preparation, and maintaining open spaces, especially in areas where overgrown vegetation could pose risks or obstruct access. By cutting down dense vegetation, slashing improves visibility of the land and reduces the fire hazard posed by dry grass.

We determine the right equipment for each job based on factors such as terrain, vegetation density, and the scale of the project. Whether it’s using a tractor for larger, open areas or a Positrack for tighter, more rugged terrain, we ensure that the equipment selected is the most efficient and appropriate for the task at hand.

  • Firebreak Installation and Maintenance

Firebreaks are essential for land and property protection, acting as buffers and access tracks that prevent the spread of fires. We specialise in firebreak installation and maintenance for commercial properties, land developers, and government landholders, ensuring compliance with bushfire regulations and council requirements.

Firebreaks are created using a variety of equipment, depending on the site needs, including dozers, forestry mulchers, and slashing attachments. For existing firebreaks, we focus on clearing overgrown vegetation and debris, while for new installations, we establish clear tracks to create effective fire barriers.

Our goal is to ensure safe perimeters that protect infrastructure and meet fire mitigation standards. Firebreaks are often part of larger projects, and we work closely with developers, government agencies, and emergency services to ensure both safety and compliance

  • Safe, Efficient Vegetation Management

In 2025 CVM invested in the latest model Green Climber, a cutting-edge remote-controlled slasher, to handle vegetation management in areas that are difficult to access and potentially dangerous for personnel. This lightweight, tracked machine is designed for uneven terrain, steep slopes, and narrow embankments, providing a safe and efficient solution for mowing, slashing, and clearing vegetation in challenging environments.

The Green Climber allows us to tackle areas where traditional methods might not be feasible. Its remote control operation means that operators can stand at a safe distance while controlling the machine, reducing the risk of injury in hazardous areas. Whether it's steep gradients, sensitive infrastructure, or areas with unpredictable conditions, this machine provides a safe and reliable way to manage vegetation without putting our personnel at risk.

This machine is ideal for local councils, shires, and commercial sites, where sound walls, large embankments, or off-road corridors need to be maintained. The tracked system ensures stability and smooth operation on slopes, making it highly effective for sites that would otherwise be difficult to access using traditional equipment. It’s particularly useful for solar farms, where we can safely manage vegetation under low-hanging panels without risking contact with the infrastructure.

Green Climber is an invaluable tool for any project requiring precise and nimble vegetation management. Its ability to navigate tight spaces and work remotely makes it perfect for high-risk areas such as those with potential explosive hazards, sensitive land, or critical infrastructure where access is limited and safety is paramount.

  • Coastal Vegetation Management is an approved contractor on the DFES (Department of Fire and Emergency Services) contractor panel, recognised for our ability to quickly mobilise and provide effective support in bushfire emergencies. We’ve been part of this panel for nearly a decade, working alongside DFES to respond swiftly to fires, manage fire breaks, and assist with fire containment efforts in high-risk areas.

Our team is experienced in working under intense conditions, with the ability to adapt quickly to dynamic and unpredictable situations. When a fire breaks out, we mobilise our own equipment and personnel, ensuring we are fully in control of how the job is executed, with no subcontractors involved. This includes deploying equipment, ideal for creating access tracks and clearing vegetation to protect communities and infrastructure.

Post-fire, our work continues with mop-up operations, which involve clearing smouldering debris, managing burnt areas, and ensuring fire safety by removing hazardous vegetation and standing dead trees. These operations are critical for reducing further fire risks and ensuring the affected land is safe for re-entry.

Our ability to be nimble and responsive means that we are always ready to assist wherever required, even in the most remote or dense bushland areas. Whether working on the front lines during an active fire or assisting with recovery and clean-up after the event, our team’s expertise ensures that we’re always ready to support DFES and protect communities across Western Australia.

  • Sustainable Vegetation Management

We understand that weed control is a sensitive and important part of land management. While we avoid using herbicides indiscriminately, we use targeted weed-spraying methods as part of a broader, holistic approach to managing invasive species. Our goal is always to create a balanced ecosystem, where native vegetation and native species can thrive without being outcompeted by invasive weeds that threaten the land’s biodiversity and productivity.

Invasive weeds often take root in sensitive areas, overwhelming native plants and trees, disrupting the natural ecosystem, and consuming vital resources like water that native vegetation desperately needs. Our weed-spraying programs are designed to control and reduce this, by allowing the canopies and native bush to flourish. Over time, we work to break the seed bank of these weeds, reducing their ability to regenerate and spread year after year.

We implement weed-spraying solutions in areas where mechanical clearing is not feasible or could cause too much disruption. For example, in smaller areas, or places with sensitive growth, herbicide application can be a precise and efficient way to reduce the weed burden without disturbing the surrounding land. We also apply herbicides to targeted species to prevent their spread and reduce the need for more intensive work during the warmer months. This approach helps to distribute workload more evenly throughout the year, leading to a more efficient and manageable vegetation program.

Our team is fully qualified and licensed in herbicide application, with dedicated spray units and hand spraying equipment for precision application. Each weed-spraying program is carefully designed and implemented while maintaining the highest standards of safety and care.

  • Precision and Expertise for Productive Tree Crops

We offer specialised pruning services for orchard and grove crops, including citrus, stone fruit, mangoes, avocados, almonds, and olives, as well as windbreak and shelterbelt plantings. Our pruning services are designed to optimise tree health, improve fruiting, and ensure long-term productivity. Whether you’re a large-scale commercial grower or a regional farm, we provide tailored pruning solutions that meet your specific needs.

Using our pruning arm mounted to a tractor, we offer efficient mechanical pruning to reduce tree canopies, shape growth, and manage overcrowding. This enhances airflow and sunlight penetration, which boosts crop yield. We also provide tree removal for non-productive or overcrowded areas to maintain an efficient, healthy orchard.

Our pruning schedule aligns with the growth cycles of each crop, ensuring minimal disruption to harvests and optimising tree performance year-round.
